Look Sharp, Sconnie - Midwestern Fashion Nerd, Chronic Over-thinker

Man parts.

Holy sun dresses!

It's like everyone and their brother decided to pick today to demonstrate that they do in fact exhibit female traits beneath those Patagonia parkas and celtic cables (Ok, perhaps not the best expression, but if Biebs' swoop can be manly - there's no telling what's next).

And despite my love for corset tops and sweetheart necklines, I sort of already miss the androgyny of winter clothing.

In fact, as I type this I find myself wondering why cold weather seems to invoke such socially acceptable masculinity, while the first gleam of warmth makes women of us all.

It's not just an overall reduction in actual fabric - but florals, neons, pastels, etc. etc - that truly turn the spring and summer months over to the matriarchy. I guess nature kind of effeminizes (word?) itself, and us humans just follow suit.

Anyhow, in completely characteristic miserly fashion, I decided to post a couple of pics as a little Ode To Androgyny - my street style of choice, seen here in mostly shoe form (+1 fabulous whole human).

Because someone needs to counteract all this loveliness.

Jingyi & her eye-catching Steve Madden boots (disregard the effeminate lace up top)

Boots from resale shop in Saukville - worn by Abigail

Hannah in Target desert booties (I still love these).

These were her grandma's!

Sally
I'm a little obsessed with Sally here. When I asked her what she thinks about when she gets dressed, she told me that she wants to feel comfortable, but "not in terms of loose", she said. It's all about being comfortable with how she feels that day. She starts with one item, and builds from there.

Sometimes she tries to put on color, but winds up taking it off at the last minute because it doesn't feel right. (Amen sista. Beige trumps blue every time).

She came across as so self-assured, and I couldn't help stopping her for a pic. It's masculine, but with feminine bits (no, not those kind). And I love it.

Sally (probably deserving of her own entry, but here's my attempt at a cohesive post).
Wearing: shoes: DSW, jacket: Ruff Hewn, cardigan: H&M, purse: Lucky Brand, jeans: "old, from the mall" (:))
Major: Art [senior]

Cheers.

Gabby I am loving your blog - your voice is totally captured and I love the people you're selecting. Those red boots at the top are amazing.
