Lately, I've been faced with an unusual dilemma for which the solution is hardly afoot:
To sock, or not?
To sock, or not?
As it is, more than one pair of my ambiguously constructed footwear routinely begs the question: Do we deserve a little bunyon buffer?
Which makes subjecting them, unshielded, to the less-pleasant portion of my lower half now not only uncomfortable, but frankly, a little bit guilt-inducing.
Which makes subjecting them, unshielded, to the less-pleasant portion of my lower half now not only uncomfortable, but frankly, a little bit guilt-inducing.
That being said, the alternative is often a statement of sorts that I'm not entirely prepared to make. Take the outfit from this earlier post, for example, in which sock scarcity resulted in the inevitable decision to take the above-the-shoe plunge.
Unfortunately, I'm rarely so brave, which results in situations like these ones, when an accidental peek at my not-designer-or-intentional-in-the-least chaussettes kills the cool vibe faster than...
something really uncool.
I suppose a solution lies, as it so often does, somewhere in between.
An innovative sock that covers what it must without smothering the overall vibe of the shoe itself.
But since I'm cheap (and of the all-or-nothing personality type), I'll disregard my own advice here and pencil-dive into a pair situated at one blatantly unbalanced end of the spectrum.
Alas. If The Man Repeller advocates sock-hoppin' it to the finish, I figure I can too.
Which I realize says a lot about my goals in life.
And with such a risqué shirt, it seems a sock of a more conservative sort might be just what the foot doctor ordered.
Would you sock-it?
