Finally starting to get in the holiday mood here in lil ol' Wisconsin.
The weather may be frightfully un-holiday esque, but I'm taking it upon myself to bring some gaudy velour and satin onto the scene nonetheless.
The whole button up-under-dress fondness I'd been harboring was officially transformed into an obsession when the stylists for the Marie Claire shoot put me in this wee bit:
And despite the fact that the editor vetoed the look - citing that I looked too much like "a little girl",
I took it upon myself to embrace that pitfall.
Yes, I realize that by swathing myself in textures all too familiar to a five-year-old at a Christmas party, I'm likely compounding the problem,
but it was too much fun to resist.
Maybe my half-motorcycle-half-rodeo boots help.
Maybe not.
Either way, I'm all set to keep working on this layering technique.
What better way to get multiple uses out of an impractical little number than to throw it on top of various-themed tops?
A denim chambray could be cool. As would a plaid flannel piece, or something with an obnoxiously clashing print. Polka dots, maybe?
Only time (and the current crop of sale items) will tell.
Cheers.
the weather looks downright tropical for wisconsin at this time of year!!!
