I did something pretty embarrassing recently.
I Googled "2013 trends".
Yeah, I know.
You'd think that from reading as many sites as I do, I'd have a pretty good sense of the trend forecast for the upcoming year.
You'd think that from reading as many sites as I do, I'd have a pretty good sense of the trend forecast for the upcoming year.
And I do.
Sort of.
I'm aware of what I like, and what I'm growing to like - which, because of my incessant perusal of current collections, is usually at least somewhat inspired by what's floating around on the interwebs.
And though I wish I could say that my decisions were made 100% independently of the influence of others - that I was just suddenly inspired by a strange voice on the wind to experiment with leather panels and plaid - it's kind of nice pretending that my subconscious fondness for currently relevant trends is really just my innate sense of style rearing it's beautiful head.
The point of this rant is that, I've been very "into" the 20's as of late.
Mid-calf pleated dresses, pendant drop necklaces, overly curly hair, old lady low heels, ((fur collar coats))....
They've all been calling to me with a newfound fury.
And, until the unhip Google search that began this seemingly directionless journey of a post, I thought that I was alone.
My naive assumption was nipped in the bud when hit after hit turned up "Great Gatsby" forecasts for the year ahead.
I felt vindicated in my au naturel sense of style for the whole millisecond before I realized that my sense of style was likely just a reflection of that put forth by others.
Teaches me to Google stupid stuff (no it doesn't).
I still propone that I thought of it first.
Denial keeps me sane.
Cheers.
I love your coat! It is incredible. Love the story of your trends search! xx
