We all do it
That, as you guys explained after a post on fashion v. art, is what "style" is all about.
And even though I believe that individual style is so distinct that it can't really be lumped into categories (some days I dress like Madonna, other days like Spiderman) - I find that oftentimes I succumb to a similar set of instincts.
There's usually a point within the reinterpretation process that I subconsciously say to myself "Gab, this outfit needs a little more .... nature.
A little more dirt."
A little more dirt."
Call it a sartorial manifestation of my Midwestern upbringing, a product of my Pocahontas girl-crush, or just another one of my Hobbit-gleaned habits, but whatever it may be - it's motivated my manner of dressing since before I can remember.
In fact, I've even given it a name:
"Earthification".
There are Sportifyers, Blingifyers, Glamorizers, Hippifyers, Retro-izers, Futurfyers...
but I belong to the unique class of individuals driven to forever derive their inspiration from cows, dead leaves, and tree trunks.
#classy
I admit that sometimes I do wish my style intuition pulled me towards a more "high fashion" aesthetic - Prada, Louis Vuitton, not hand-made moccasins, etc, etc, - but I am what I am, and just like sir Popeye himself, that's all that I am.
Not to say things couldn't change. 5 years ago I never would have dreamed that one day I'd feel at ease in an low cut white blouse, but alas,
here we are
here we are
low-cuttin' it up for the whole world to see.
Good thing my camouflage pants and faux-hiking boots cast me right back into the rustic woods from which I came.

Which would maybe make, like, an ounce of sense,
if I hadn't been born in a hospital with doctors and nurses and not wolves and stuff.

Cheers.
