Look Sharp, Sconnie - Midwestern Fashion Nerd, Chronic Over-thinker

Kitschy Crochet.

When I say "crochet",

you say ... ______??
Grandma's hand-made pot-holder?
Old best hippie friend's stepmom's blanket?
That one weird girl in high school's favorite hobby? (it's addicting, OK?)

But fer realz.
In my mind, "crocheted" styles come with very heavy cases of social baggage.
It's often hard to take them for what they are, because they often incite references of an undeniably unflattering sort.

As always, of course, I'm making it my goal to revamp a formerly shunted style in a digestible manner.
Like anything, there's a fine line between doable and discardable, but I'd say this skirt definitely falls within the former's domain.
Sure, it could probably double as a potholder/hippie blanket/impractical set of curtains...
but I'm choosing to assert that the strange hem and sheer nether regions make it a perfectly acceptable piece for modern times.

Once again, I prove to myself the sheer (heh) futility of shunting an entire style at once. Often times, it's the smallest differences that make something likable vs loathable.

[ Holy alliteration.
I. am. good. ]

I admit, however, that I may have backtracked right back across that aforementioned line by wearing this number to frolic in the forest. I think it may have had enough hippie in it without the further addition of a subsequent Elvish photoshoot setting.

yea
I just capitalized Elvish.

Cheers.

this skirt falls so far away from loathable/pot holder on you it's crazy. such an amazing find and i love how you paired it with a tight crop top. no one rocks a crop top quite like you do my friend. you couldn't me more in your element in these pictures and hello can we talk about your amazing beach waves? need them now.

i'm with abigail. not a potholder. the crop top. hot. and, those waves in your hair are enviable. i'm always struggling to get my hair to look like that, but humidity be damned, i end up looking like tina turner.

i'll be in touch. can't believe my summer is almost here.
