All of this horrible horrible horrible relaxing injury-induced down time has given me an exorbitant amount of mental space to devote to over-analyzation.
Of course, I am who I am, so this extra brain power has been largely dedicated to the subject of shopping.
More specifically, shoe shopping -
an act I've found outrageously therapeutic as of late.
But what, says I to my wounded self, is it that ultimately pushes me over the edge when looking to purchase a pair of shoes?
Is it how many outfits said shoes would go with...?
Or is it . . .
how many outfits said shoes go against???
If the big bold italicized capital word didn't do it for you, you could probably guess from the direction of my blog that my sentiments on matching are fairly ... apathetic, so the latter will sound like the more likely hypothesis.
Which is interesting, considering that earlier in life, I seemed to have the idea that my shoes needed to match my outfit - a qualification of which I now have no remnants.
I now, of course, still require that they go with my outfit,
but only in an opposite-day sense.
but only in an opposite-day sense.

clothes by sisters, necklace by Amy |
I've entered a phase in which the only footwear fitting for an ensemble is that which wholly contrasts it (feminine for masculine, bright for dark, fancy for casual, etc, etc), and anything harmonious is immediately out. Because my clothing is anything but bombacious - you can understand why a flat, male-appropriate shoe selection is anything but satisfactory. Hence the difficulty I'm having with my hip-broken state.
To temporarily remedy this dilemma, I've decided to do the clash of all clashes -
high school homecoming cum bridesmaid dress + eyesore neon tennies.
Does it satisfy my stiletto-with-menswear urges?
No. But it sure is obnoxious.
Cheers.
Love a good clash, and in my opinion, this works so well..love!
