Sometimes, I look around and think to myself:
isn't there more to life?
...............
............
........
...............
............
........
And then I snap out of it and realize that this isn't the opening credits of Beauty and the Beast.
That being said, I am often curious about how bitter I need to become about not doing something before I pick my ass up and actually do it?
This melodramatic thought process was inflamed by the initiation yesterday of New York Fashion Week.
Which, all things considered, REALLY isn't that big of a deal.
I mean, overly-skinny people, overdone clothes, over-hyped celebrities, over-packed facilities, over-over-over, etc, etc, etc.
BUT,
(but but but but),
I STILL WANT TO GO.
I want to be "so sick of it" and "so tired of the crowds" and "so over the runway" and everything else that every blogger and obnoxiously-priveleged famous person is,
but ...
I'm not.
Which really makes me wonder:
How much of life is spent idealizing others' realities
while negating the worth of our own?
Would your life look as cool to an uninformed outsider as their life looks to you??
Did you think your own current life would be cool before it was so
. . . current?

the glam life that is mine |
Would the "Fashion" industry even exist if 95% of us weren't perpetually excluded from its inner ranks?
Would working at McDonald's seem cool if only a select few were allowed to do it?
Frankly, internships considered, it probably pays better.
So what? Do we just have to keep doing crap in order to realize that it's not as great as it seems,
or are we, at some point, going to discover a path which we, even as "insiders" won't despise?
Have you?
Cheers.

I hid my phone yesterday bc of the influx of fashion week shots then I realized, I dont want to be at fashion week until I'm invited and I'm there on the front row......im going to work my ass off to get there but it will happen. And you my fashion & sartorially gifted friend will end up on the front row one day too.....until then we will just have to make do :))

Very well written & I love those pictures! I still dream about going to NYFW some day. I read something the other day that there's a new trend amongst bloggers: not going to NYFW. Super weird, I'd love to go. But maybe when I finally have that opportunity, it's not cool anymore. Le sigh.

A DASH OF FASH
Very poignant questions indeed. I'm not so sure one should idolize something they don't have any experience with - but there is something to be said for doing what you love - if that's working at MacDonalds even, then go for it. We can't all be FROW fashionistas though :'(
