What makes something bland and boring,
I don't know, guys.
I just don't know.
Is it quality?
No.
Some of my most loved leggings are also some of my cheapest.

Is it brand name?
No.
I have $10 Zara tees that I'd sell my firstborn to keep.
Is it fit?
Now we're getting somewhere...
"Fit" not in terms of flattery,
but in terms of drape and dimension and overall comfort. Comfort with not only how it makes others view us, but how it makes us view ourselves.

The "basics" I wear the most often are those that make me feel effortlessly awesome. They're those that have a certain inherent energy to them that automatically imbue me with an inarguable confidence - thus making them "beloved".
This could be a nice NSF thermal or a Velvet tee that I got from my favorite local boutique,
Either way, the item has some meaning to me beyond its physicality - thus making it special.
This, for some, could be financial value - or it could be the place of purchase, the personality of the vendor, the history of the brand, the item's former owner, etc, etc.
it is interesting, though, how an item can go from "boring" to "beloved" in a matter of seconds, based solely on a story. A simple anecdote can change my perspective entirely - endearing to me an object in an instant.
For example: pretend the socks you're wearing right now
once belonged to Ryan Gosling.
I mean...
Cheers.
ps: All of these items I own and can vouch for. #fabBbB

ReplyDeletethings with a story almost always elevate themselves in my book. hue has cordoroy jeggings? hmm....have to check those out. though, in hk i'd probably sweat disgustingly in them.
