"Remember that one time you were trying to warm up Jake Gyllenhaal solely with your body temperature by hugging him half naked underground because he was so cold from having to dive underneath 6ft of ice cold water in order to reach a phone to call his stranded father during the impending American ice age and then you got stuck with him alone in a snowed-in room with only a romantic-sized couch and a glowing fire place and a crap-load of pent up sexual tension and an inevitable semi-awkward but not really awkward at all climactic kiss?… I hate my life."
I posted that to Facebook yesterday.
Nobody liked it.
Well, I liked it - but I'm pretty sure that in the world of Facebook (or pretty much just the world in general) that doesn't really mean a thing.
No matter. I'll continue to hold dear to the sentiment that the kiss in The Day After Tomorrow is the ultimate pinnacle of romance and that Jake Gyllenhaal is, without a doubt, the most charming anti-hero the B-level blockbuster has ever seen.
ANYHOW.
The point of this seemingly pointless rant is to introduce you to the fact that the females in my favorite romantic comedies(?) always seem to be dressed abysmally.
I don't know whether it's my desire to be inconspicuously amazing (while outwardly modest) or perhaps my hopes of one day being the silent nerd girl whom the super hot but simultaneously emotional guy inexplicably falls for,
but the women I tend to semi-idolize (or maybe just relate to??) in romantic roles are always dressed terribly.
For example(s) :
Emmy Rossum in The Day After Tomorrow
Mandy Moore in A Walk to Remember
Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink
Drew Barrymore in Never Been Kissed
Renee Zellweger in Bridget Jones Diary
Laura Linney in Love, Actually
Anne Hatheway in Princess Diaries
Anne Hatheway in Princess Diaries
And many,
many,
many,
many,
more.
Pocahontas is just about the only well-dressed (mind you - she's essentially in a loin cloth for the entirety of the film) female lead in a romantic-ish movie that I even remotely desire to emulate.
I have very refined taste in film, obviously.

Cheers.

DeleteLove this and also love the day after tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I watch it every time it's on tv.
