The slit.
What is it all about?
Well, I was wondering the same thing too, so I decided to do a little bit of investigating.
And what I found,
will shock you.
PSYCH!
I literally found nothing.
It turns out that Googling "history of side slit sweater" returns very little in the way of relevant information.
It does, however, drag up roughly a billion opportunities to purchase a side slit sweater by the brand "Design History".
I'd hashtag that "fail" if doing so didn't make me want to puke all over the keyboard.
Anyhoot. For now, my fascination with the oversized-with-slit sweater will be relegated to popular trend pursuit rather than nostalgic reiteration of some bygone design aesthetic. Which is OK - mainly because this infamous slit prevents my favorite clothing item of all time - the sweater - from turning me into a cake-pop-silhouetted victim.

It's also an extremely convenient way to cover up the slight pouch that 3 glasses of wine a night and excessive amounts of sushi have bestowed upon my embarrassingly untoned midsection.
They don't come classier than this, kids.

Cheers.

you and i are well suited companions....3 glasses of wine a night sounds like my kind of week (okay, maybe every other night)....to be honest, i hadn't noticed the side slit oversized sweater. i'm a fan of oversized, but haven't seen them with a side slit. i'll have to pay more attention.
