Sooo.....
bloggers making themselves skinnier, right?
Crazay.
Then again, how weird is it, really, that the majority of humanity just wants to fit in? Relatively expected, I'd say, yeah?
But is it?
After typing those words, I really started to struggle with that assertion.
So I asked a friend:
"Do you think it's human nature to want to fit in or stand out?"
And he replied:
"I think it's human nature to desire the world to be as simplistically binary as our thought processes can be."
And I'm all like, touché man, touché.
'Cause it's so0o true. Are we ever really desiring all one or the other?
I mean, as far as fashion is concerned, I'm always so conflicted. Part of me wants to stand out for being original, innovative, and ahead of the game - a leader, not a follower.
The rest of me wants to be as cool as the leaders that I admire.
[[side note: conflictingly, those that I admire rarely strive to be cool.]]
So do I want to stand out? Fit in? Stand out to fit in with those who stand out?
Some weird, amorphous blob of an amalgamation of the bunch?
For example: my decision to wear a turtleneck in 80 degree weather was, initially, supposed to be a move to stand out from the locale (#turtlenecksonthebeach #itsnotathing). But upon further consideration, it's simultaneously an attempt to adhere to new normcore standards while also adopting the aesthetic of the futuristic minimalism that I religiously see walk down runway. As for the silk pajama shorts? They're like fashion blogger camouflage. But in Wisconsin? #standout

what do I want?
I don't know.
The end.
Cheers.

these shots are sooo gorgeous gabs! i feel like people are mostly driven to fit in, but in an exceptional way (fit in with the medias impossible standards while still being relatable) which is probably why some bloggers feel the need to delete all their flaws. x
