Look Sharp, Sconnie - Midwestern Fashion Nerd, Chronic Over-thinker

Sneakers

A one word title!?!?
Could it be?
Have I finally shunned my obnoxious ways in favor of a more mature mentality?
Paired down to minimalism??
Embraced moderation???
Sure haven't!!

It's just that the word "sneaker" already comes with such pre-conceived notions, why subtitle it?
I mean, what was your initial visceral reaction?

Did you cringe b/c you thought that I was going to, like so many before me, expound upon with my newfound obsession with "comfort" when that's obviously been such a huge driving factor in what I've chosen to wear on this blog to date? (note: sarcasm)
Or did you just ignore it and skip over the post as a whole because this comfort footwear as fashion thing has gotten disturbingly out of control thus negating the cosmic necessity of this here sentence entirely?

I, personally, have a conflicted relationship with the now ubiquitous form of footwear.
Then again, I'd be hard-pressed to find something with which I didn't have a conflicting relationship,
so....
let's hear it for anxiety.

Anyhoot-
when analyzing trends - and by "analyzing", I mean wearing and then walking around in - I like to consider what motivating factors (beyond the fact that Karlie Kloss wore them while she pooped and Rumi Neely had her boyfriend photograph them with a fish eye lens) drive the virality of a certain trend.
I'd like to think that there exists some special cultural gasoline, of sorts, that fuels the fire that is the rampant adoption of a particular fashion piece; A pre-existing habitat, especially conducive to my stupid metaphor's blaze.

So, blogger bashing & umimpressive metaphor aside, what was it?
What were we, as a fashion community, feeling that made us so ready and willing to drop our beloved form of torture in favor of .  .  .

"comfort"??

Really??

You threw your own personal aesthetic and footwear morals to the wind for  . . .

"comfort"?

For a sneaker?
sneaks: K-Swiss, jeans: ASOS, coat: H&M, tee: Gap, hand chain: Melissa Behrens

And more importantly,
are we really now saying the word "sneaker"?

Cheers.
