Look Sharp, Sconnie - Midwestern Fashion Nerd, Chronic Over-thinker

The 7 Most Unique Looks from NYFW Thus Far (IMHO)

Fashion week is a lot of the same.

The same street style stars, the same front row attendants, the same brands having the same parties with the same attendees,
etc
etc
etc.

In fact,
I'm certain there are a few exact looks I've seen on multiple runways.

How this happens, no one really knows, but it's likely part of a collective consciousness that we call society.

Even so, there are still those amongst us that shine.
Granted, I'm not aware of every look that has come down the runway throughout the course of time,
but these next 7 sure feel fresh to me.
1. Parsons MFA
Guys, you gotta check this Parsons stuff out. Sure, some's trend reminiscent, but most of it is kind o' weird.

In the best way possible.

It was refreshing to see some of these designs after going through literally every show so far - either on Style.com or in person (who am I kidding. Mainly on Style.com).

So get ready for a ton of intricate knots, quirky wording, half wool/half knit masterpieces, oversized lucite necklaces, and on and on and on. It's pretty fantastic.

2. Hood by Air

HBA; Another weird one.

Which you realize, in Gabby speak, means cool.

Most of it isn't my jam, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the eclecticism.
The one above, though, I could see myself attempting in some aspect.
Not that that's what runway's about. But you know- I like to make it about me where I can.

3. Altuzarra

Couple killer looks in Altuzarra, especially above lattice-work. Comes in a vest too. & in cognac.
Yeah.
It's good.

That being said, if you haven't checked out the full show, do so now. It's more about the entire story than it is about any individual piece. It's quite the evolution, and I wish so badly that I could have seen it in person.

4. Baja East

Whatever this shoulder knot thing is- I dig it.
I'm the kind of person who sleeps with one leg outside my blankets and one underneath,
so I think this half knot sweater shawl scarf thing and I could get along. I just dug this show as a whole. I mean- a leather Mexican/Baja/"stoner" sweater? Yeah.

DISCLAIMER: This same shoulder-tie trend can be found in at least 2 other shows so far. Herein lies just one example that I've chosen to represent out of a collection 3 (or more) designers who have, collectively, come to the same stylistic conclusion.

And just like that it's passé.
5. Rodebjer

Back tied scarf.
In every look.
It's cool.

6. Creatures of Comfort
Apron tied on the side or half maxi half mini?
that is the question.

Also - this lil hat is all at once hideous and intriguing.

7. Gary Graham
I know, I know-- it's off the shoulder,
which immediately makes it not unique.

#everybloggerever.

But there's just something so alluring about all of this that stands out from everything else, so I had to include it.

Which looks did I miss?

Thoughts?
Critiques?
ARE YOU THERE?

Cheers.
