Last week I went to the SUNO show.
It was hosted in a warehouse-esque location,
into which they loaded us via a giant elevator shaft that we entered from a deserted street.
It was cool. And I knew it would be.
SUNO is known for its eclecticism, and I could tell right away when I saw the crowd that this was no Rebecca Minkoff.
This kind of "halo effect" can easily sway me when it comes to fashion shows.
I see how much I should like a collection, and right away I convince myself that I do.
It takes a lot of self-talk and awareness to understand that sometimes, the appeal comes from sources outside of the collection itself-
but when that realization comes, it's empowering.

my fav look. |
Case in point: SUNO.
Now, I appreciated the whole collection,
but I liked a very specific segment.
(I LOVE everything featured in this post.
it's the collection's prevalent color/pattern/feminine designs that aren't really my jam)

And instead of being ashamed of that, I'm learning to embrace it.
We all have our own senses of style, and there's no reason that we shouldn't be able to edit down a designer's work into what we're instinctively drawn to and what we're not.
What I do have a problem with, is when criticism, that often should be subjective,
is approached objectively.
But that's a whole 'notha blog post.
For now,
let's embrace our dislikes.
Or likes, I guess.
for the optimists amongst you. ;)
Cheers.
PS: A HUGE Thank You to POLYVORE for allowing me to have SO MUCH FUN as a #CommunityCorrespondent this last week!
