Look Sharp, Sconnie - Midwestern Fashion Nerd, Chronic Over-thinker

Look it's me again

Man guys.

Not gonna lie — it's a little embarrassing to be back.
Obviously,  I've missed our (one-sided) chats, in which I ramble and you (pretend to) read and we all live happily ever after.
But one brief paused turned into multiple substantial ones, and suddenly, the time away made it harder to post than ever.

I'm here today to remedy that.

With a new year, comes new ambitions.
Exactly 5 months ago, I decided to partake on a little adventure that I like to attribute to my irresponsible degree of wonder.
I picked up my 2 suitcases (and extensive overcharge fees) and flew directly into the unknown - in search of nothing more than an adventure. And really good sushi.
And, as it's prone to do - the city initially got the best of me. I lost a little bit of myself in pursuit of pleasing those around me - a habit which, though I realize will always be a part of my personality, I'm hoping to quell as I enter this next stage of my hobbit-inspired journey.

New York City has a way of rushing you so intensely that you forget you're even here. The precious time you have is reserved for only a few, curated activities - and all at once, New York goes from being enchantingly overwhelming to unbearably suffocating.

But cheers to a new year of new priorities and new people.
It takes a little shift in the seas to remember why we moved here in the first place — to refresh our initial sense of wonder and enthusiasm.
Because if we lose that, we might as well move back where we came from, right?

So Happy 4-day-late New Year to you
and yours
and, if you're accustom to perpetually 3rd-wheelin it like this girl, yours' yourses

That's not depressing, right?

Cheers.

yes, so so so happy to read your posts again...and find that in the span of the day, i have catching up to do! yay! i mean, i know life is hectic when you're in nyc. i know because my sister has said it can totally suck it out of you and she just likes to retreat after her crazy job at the gallery to the relative chill-ness (is that a word?) of brooklyn. i tried to not like be stalker-y when looking to see if you'd posted, but i failed.

glad you're back. let's hang in the summer.
